ARIES HOROSCOPE
January, 2008

What a month for you, Aries! You've got six planets lined up in your 10th house - the House of career, reputation, and social life!

Jupiter has been in your 10th House since December 19, 2007 and will remain there until January 5, 2009. The increased energy and enthusiasm surrounding you during this period may inspire you with greater ambitions for the future, more urgent desires to expand your career and other long range goals. If there are no negative circumstances to interfere with the otherwise positive potential of this period, you should not hesitate to go after exactly what you want, to unreservedly promote yourself and your interests. A family member may be given a special promotion or recognition at this time, and it is through their success that your own reputation and status is enhanced. During this fortunate period you will undoubtedly receive recognition or rewards you have earned. However, it is also possible under this benefic influence, to receive recognition or rewards that you really have not earned. It is a time when the attainment of success or other rewards is likely to be unaccompanied by responsibility. At first it may seem a stroke of good fortune to carry off a prize or gain an exalted position with no strings attached. In reality, however, the very lack of accountability or merit poses the danger that what has been gained so easily can be as easily lost. It is to your benefit and piece of mind to be honest with yourself, or at the very least, to acknowledge that what may be too easily gained now could turn and represent embarrassment or scandal, later.

Retrograde Saturn is in your 6th House, the House of work, health and diet, and will remain there until May 3rd. This retrograde began on December 20, 2007. Because this is a relatively long-term period, many other influences will occur that may either emphasize its effect or perhaps mask it temporarily. Other significant factors that will contribute to the way you react, and ultimately to the way things turn out, include your age, maturity, and your past experiences. This influence has as much to do with the past as it does to the present. It will force you to throw out what is wasteful and to abandon unsuccessful situations, replacing them with something more solid and useful. In the case of this particular period, two major areas are emphasized, your work and your health. Work means daily tasks and responsibilities, whether your main work is taking care of home and family or involves a job outside the home. Work-related responsibilities are apt to increase over the course of this transit. Routine schedules, endless details, and tasks may start to become boring and tedious. Loss of employment and other disappointments or difficulties related to work, your working environment, or relationships with co-workers are apt to be encountered. They will demand resolution and appropriate changes. In the matter of your health, this influence does not mean you will experience illness, but it does tend to reflect in one way or another any past disregard for maintaining good health and physical fitness. Chronic illness is apt to flare up, and it would not be unusual to suffer physical distress as a result of overwork, strain, and emotional burdens. Correct actions during this period can mean becoming more organized and structured, finding better methods to make your tasks easier to accomplish, and, ultimately gaining increased income and recognition for your hard work. The ultimate payoff is even bigger if you realize the importance of routine medical and dental examinations, maintaining a proper diet, and keeping physically fit with appropriate exercise. You'll add happier, healthier years to your life.

The Sun moved into Capricorn in your 10th House on December 23, 2007, and will remain there until January 20, 2008.
Your public reputation, that is, what others think of you, may be of greater concern to you during this transit. You have a tendency to assess the role you play in the world at large and, to a certain extent, how that role is enhanced or modified by family responsibilities. Whether your primary work is raising a family, pursuing a career, or a combination of both, you need to know that you as an individual make a difference. Relationships with parents, supervisors, and other authority figures (including your attitude toward responsibilities imposed by state and government regulations) can suffer under this influence as you seek to promote your own goals and reputation. You want greater control of your destiny; to be assured that your life is going in the direction you were ultimately meant to take. The negative potential of this transit includes the possibility that you will be disappointed at not attaining the level of achievement or status for which you strive. However it would be a mistake to let failure discourage you from continuing to work toward attaining honor and recognition for your work, especially since that reality is a possible future result of your present efforts.

Retrograde Mars lands in your 3rd House, the House of communications and short-distance travel, on January 2nd. This retrograde will last until January 31st. The month of January therefore has potential to be explosive.
The physically energized atmosphere surrounding you during this period is likely to engender more than the usual volume of communications and activities, especially with siblings and neighbors. You are apt to be swamped with information and ideas, not to mention coming up with an increasing number of your own. Travel and transportation are highlighted and can involve anything from increased concern with public transportation to planning or taking a trip or the purchase and sale of a car. By choice or circumstances you may develop new skills with machinery or computers at this time. Other projects that inspire your physical actions include writing, design, as well as arts and crafts geared toward business enterprises or that will serve a definite function rather than those in which you might engage merely as a way of passing time. Under this influence you are apt to be more of a doer than a thinker-- eager to turn ideas into physical reality, more than ready to speak your mind, and if words will not suffice, you will not hesitate to use physical means to express yourself. Should unfortunate elements enter the picture you may either be tempted to physically demonstrate your anger and frustration, or become the victim of those who resort to physical retaliations. Rash action now can cause accidents, especially burns, cuts, or mishaps while driving.

The New Moon opposition in Capricorn on January 8th shows a struggle between your home life and your career or social life. This is a time to address and balance what is going on with family vs. the outside world. You and others are apt to be stubborn and may feel that the pressure is really on during this time. Watch your temper, and try to spread yourself evenly, but do take care of yourself. While this is a great time to start something new or take on a new project, remember to pay attention to your family, too.

Mercury has been in your House of career, reputation, and social life since December 21, 2007, but eases into the 11th House on January 9th. The 11th House is the House of friendships and networking, and of hopes and wishes.
Circumstances you encounter during this period are likely to bring an increase in communications and activities with friends. There may also be increased interactions or travel with children, especially children that are not biologically yours but for whom you have responsibility. Under this influence your interest and greater participation may also include clubs and associations. Activities such as fund raising, membership drives, and newsletters may be on your agenda. Mercury will turn retrograde by the end of the month, on January 29th. A retrograde in your 11th House signifies communication upsets with your friends, family and your plans, so it will be wise to withhold signing any contracts or making any long-term obligations during the retrograde, which lasts until February 19th.

The Moon will be full on January 22nd, and anything you started back at the beginning of January has great potential to come to fruition now. The Full Moon occurs on the cusp of your 4th and 5th Houses - that is, the seeds sown in your career house now pay off in your Houses of Family and Love.

Venus enters your 10th House on January 25th, and stays until February 17th. You are most likely to get the attention of others right now by emphasizing whatever is most attractive about yourself -- physical beauty, artistic talent, or a charming personality that indicates you are a cooperative, interested as well as interesting individual. Don't wait for others to notice you (even though that may be the case) take every opportunity you can to be in their direct line of vision. "If you've got it, flaunt it" accurately describes what your attitude should be under this influence. It is also a period for promoting cordial relationships and socializing with older family members, superiors, and authority figures. Allies, spouse, or other partners may receive recognition or special promotion at this time.

Pluto lands in your career and social House on January 26th, and stays until June 14th. This influence covers a period of many years. It carries much depth and power of transformation but because of the length of this period's duration, you will only witness evidence of it at certain times, usually during the months when it begins, and at various times when other circumstances and influences occur to trigger it. Much of what takes place will depend upon the appropriateness of your age, level of maturity, and past experiences. Naturally, the more you are aware of this powerful influence and its potential, the more you will understand and be able to use it to attain personal growth and other positive goals. The nature of this influence is an increased urge to seek ultimate control and a position of greater power in specific areas of your life. During this particular period you will increasingly resent anyone who exerts control over your fate. If you do allow or are forced to allow others to make important decisions for you, the results will not be favorable. Concern with your ultimate destiny will have a profound impact on your career or other long-range goals. By the time this period has ended, you are apt to have experienced a complete change of heart where they are concerned. If you have not established any permanent goals by the time this influence comes along, you will no doubt learn the importance of doing so before others do it for you. Drifting along in the same pattern year after year will not be acceptable. If you fail to take charge or make attempts to gain greater influence as an individual, the events and people you encounter along the way will conspire to force you to make changes-- some of which you may come to regret. The choices you do make, voluntarily or otherwise, are not likely to be easy or trivial. You will not gain something without giving up something else. One of the consequences of all that goes on during this long period, may be an intense struggle between home and family and the demands of a career or other long- range goals.

Lastly, if you find yourself wondering why there's so many computer outages and glitches, and wondering if the world has hit an early Mercury retrograde, check it out: as of January 3, 2008, we've entered an eleven-year solar storm caused by erupting spots on the Sun. Giant blasts of solar energy will be bathing the Earth in its wake between 2008 and 2019, with peak activity in 2011 or 2012 according to noaa.gov's website.
These solar blasts are so strong that they can take down entire power grids, not to mention your cell phone connectivity. The plus side to such an event is that the aurora will be absolutely beautiful for those living far enough north to see the Northern Lights.
